LASIK in Baltimore - Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis

LASIK laser vision correction has become the leading refractive procedure due to the precision and the speed of healing. 


  

Using an instrument known as a microkeratome, a thin flap of corneal tissue is folded back.

The excimer laser then removes a predetermined amount of tissue from the middle of the cornea to correct the patient's refractive error.

The cornea is made flatter for nearsightedness, steeper for farsightedness, and more spherical to correct astigmatism.
  


 

The corneal flap is then placed back in its original position where it starts to bond immediately without the need of stitches.
