WHAT IS CRYSTALENS?
Crystalens, a single-focus lens, is the first-ever cataract replacement lens that incorporates hinges to work naturally with your eyes’ muscles. This revolutionary hinge design allows the lens to move, providing a natural, seamless focus for a broader range of vision over traditional lens implants.

THE CRYSTALENS PROCEDURE
The medical procedure to implant the Crystalens is the same safe, proven cataract
surgery performed annually on over 7 million eyes globally. Over 65 million
procedures have been done in the US in the last 25 years.
Typically performed in an outpatient surgical center, the actual surgery takes less than twenty minutes. Your doctor will place a few drops in your eye, then use an ultrasonic probe to remove the cloudy lens from your eye. The Crystalens is then gently placed where your original lens used to be. Once surgery is complete, additional drops will be put in your eye to prevent infection and decrease inflammation.
Because the opening into the eye is so small, it heals very quickly.
Insurance coverage varies greatly from policy to policy and state to state. Generally speaking, private insurance may cover the cataract surgical procedure and anesthesia; and may also allow a certain additional amount for the artificial lens implant. The insured is then required to pay their deductible as well as any additional amount above the primary coverage. Some patients are completely responsible for the full payment.
Patients may call to inquire about their particular coverage. Affordable financing options are available including 18 months same-as-cash or an extended 24, 36, or 48 month plan. Go to www.carecredit.com.
