The Bel Air office includes an Outpatient Surgical Center, a Laser Vision Center, 17-lane examination
clinic, an Optical Shop, and an aesthetic
division...the Maryland Cosmetic Laser Institute.
The practice specializes in laser vision correction, cataracts, cosmetic eyelid surgery, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachments, glaucoma treatment, pediatric ophthalmology with treatment for lazy eyes and surgical correction of crossed eyes for both pediatrics and adults.
Wayne H. Parris, MD
Wayne H. Parris, MD is a board-certified surgeon and is recognized as a leading cataract surgeon in the Baltimore metropolitan area. He also specializes in laser vision correction, clear lens exchange and cataract surgery.
A native of Baltimore, Dr. Parris graduated from the University
of Maryland and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He
received his ophthalmology training at the Greater Baltimore Medical
Center.
Dr. Parris founded the practice in 1975 in Bel Air. With a commitment
to provide the best in surgical eye care, he opened the Boulton
Street office in 1986 with an ophthalmic outpatient surgical center.
The surgical center was the first in the state of Maryland to receive
accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare,
Inc.
Together with Dr. Charles Castoro, Dr. Parris has grown the practice
to include a second office in Havre de Grace, Maryland; a Laser
Vision Center; and an aesthetic division, the Maryland Cosmetic
Laser Institute. On staff, pediatric, glaucoma, retina, and plastic
surgeons plus five doctors of optometry share in the Parris-Castoro
commitment to expert caring.
Charles J. Castoro, MD
A refractive
surgeon since 1981, Dr. Castoro specializes in laser vision correction.
For patients beyond laser vision range, he specializes in clear
lens exchange. Cataracts and intraocular laser surgery are this
board certified surgeon's other specialties.
Dr. Castoro graduated from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute,
The Washington and Jefferson College, and Georgetown Medical School.
He received his ophthalmology training at Wills Eye Hospital in
Philadelphia where he served as chief resident. He joined Dr. Parris
in 1981.
Committed to providing the best in surgical eye care, Dr. Castoro
and Dr. Parris opened the Boulton Street office in 1986 with an

Lisa S. Abrams, MD
A native
and resident of Baltimore, graduated with honors from Harvard University
and the Johns Hopkins Medical School. She was a fellow in Pediatric
Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Wilmer Eye Institute of the
Johns Hopkins Hospital. She joined the Parris-Castoro Eye & Laser
Center in 1997.Dr. Abrams' areas of expertise include pediatric
eye exams, treatment of amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (surgical
alignment of crossed or wandering eyes), blocked tear ducts, congenital
eye diseases, and genetic eye diseases.
She is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at The Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine, where she teaches medical students
and residents. Dr. Abrams is an active member of the American Association
of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and serves on their public
information committee.
Dr. Abrams is the author of several chapters in ophthalmic textbooks
and several articles in medical journals. She is on staff at The
Johns Hopkins Hospital, Greater Baltimore Medical Center, and Harford
Memorial Hospital.

Gail F. Schwartz, MD
Gail
F. Schwartz, MD specializes exclusively in the field of glaucoma.
She is uniquely qualified and performs all aspects of treatment
using medicine, laser, and/or surgery.
A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Schwartz graduated with honors from
The University of Pennsylvania and received her Doctorate from the
University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Schwartz completed
her ophthalmology residency at Krieger Eye Institute in Baltimore
where she was chief resident and received her Fellowship in Glaucoma
from Wilmer Eye Institute of the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is
a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is on staff
at GBMC, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Sinai Hospital and Union Memorial
Hospital.
Dr. Schwartz is a Assistant Professor at Wilmer Eye Institute of
the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and an Assistant
Professor at the University of Maryland. Dr. Schwartz has authored
numerous articles in ophthalmic and medical journals and is requested
as a spokesperson in the field of glaucoma for many medical institutions.
In addition, she is active in glaucoma research.
She is a member of the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy
of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology,
American Medical Association, and the Maryland Society for Eye Physicians
and Surgeons.

Timothy D. Polk, MD
Dr.
Polk is a retina specialist with extensive experience treating macular,
retinal, and vitreous diseases. These include diabetic retinopathy,
macular degeneration, and retinal detachments.
He employs the full spectrum of retinal care including fluorescein
angiography, laser treatment, photodynamic therapy, and pneumatic
retinopexy. In addition, he is uniquely qualified to perform even
the most complicated vitreoretinal surgery.
Dr. Polk graduated from the University of Virginia, College of Arts
& Sciences, and from the University of Virginia, School of Medicine.
He completed his internal medicine internship at Franklin Square
Hospital Center in Baltimore and his ophthalmology residency at
GBMC. Dr. Polk then received his Medical Retina Fellowship from
the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, and his Vitreoretinal
Fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospital.
He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and
the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has received numerous awards
for teaching and is the author of many articles.

Raya Armaly, MD
Raya
Armaly, MD has limited her specialty to the field of glaucoma.
She earned a B.S. from Duke University, followed by a Doctorate
from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine. She completed
her ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at George Washington
University. Dr. Armaly became a Diplomate of the American Board
of Ophthalmology in 1985.
She is on staff at Howard County General Hospital and St. Agnes
Surgicenter. She brings 14 years of glaucoma practice experience,
having spent the last 10 years practicing glaucoma as part of Patuxtent
Medical Group.
She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association
for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Maryland MedChi, and Women
in Ophthalmology. She is also pursuing her interests in teaching
and research.

Art G. Aglubat, MD
Dr. Aglubat
is a resident of Baltimore County is the medical director of the
Perry Hall office. Dr. Aglubat specializes in cataracts, glaucoma,
laser vision correction, retina, plus eyelid surgery and comprehensive
eye exams.
A native of the Philippines, Dr. Aglubat graduated from medical
school at Manila Central University in Manila, Philippines. He received
his ophthalmology training at the United States Public Service Health
Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. While at USPSH, he served as Deputy
Chief of the Ophthalmology Department from 1978-1981.
From 1981 to 2003 he operated a solo practice. During the last 6
years of this time, he performed his surgical cases at the Parris-Castoro
Outpatient Surgical Center.
Growing the professional relationship between practices, Dr. Aglubat
was asked to join and have his practice as an extension of the Parris-Castoro
Eye & Laser Center.

Joe S. Navaleza, MD
Joe S. Navaleza, M.D., specializes in the field of cataract and refractive surgery. He also performs eye exams for patients with diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration and most ocular conditions.
A native of Northville, Michigan, Dr. Navaleza received a full scholarship and earned his Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from the University of Michigan in 1997. Before continuing onto medical school, he was granted a scholarship to attend New York University in Paris, France.
In 2002, he graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. He then traveled to Philadelphia to complete both his internal medicine internship at Albert Einstein Medical Center and his ophthalmology training at Wills Eye Hospital. He joined Parris-Castoro Eye & Laser Center in 2006.
Dr. Navaleza is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology.
Along with speaking French and Tagalog, other areas of interest are: golf, basketball, art history, and Shakespeare.

Jeanette M. Bonsack, OD
Dr. Bonsack is a native and resident of Harford County, joined the professional staff of Parris-Castoro Eye & Laser Center in 1986.
Dr. Bonsack earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Washington
College and graduated with honors. She also earned a B.S. in Optometric
Science and a Doctorate in Optometry from Pennsylvania College of
Optometry in Philadelphia in 1984.
Her areas of expertise include comprehensive eye exams, treatment
of conditions and diseases of the eye, contact lens fitting, pre-
and post-operative management of laser vision correction, cataracts,
glaucoma, oculoplastics, and ocular laser treatment.
Dr. Bonsack currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member for the
residency programs at Parris-Castoro, is a local congressional keyperson
for the Maryland Optometric Association, and a member of the American
Optometric Association. She is also the Maryland State coordinator
for Vision USA, a national organization providing eyecare to low
income patients.
Richard T. Corea, OD
Dr.
Corea areas of expertise include comprehensive eye exams, treatment
of conditions and disease of the eye, contact lens fitting, pre-
and post-operative management of laser vision correction, cataracts,
glaucoma, oculoplastics, and ocular laser treatment.
Dr. Corea earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from St. Joseph's
College in Rensselaer, Indiana and his Doctorate of Optometry from
The Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio.
He was in private practice in Indiana for 15 years before joining
the Parris-Castoro Eye & Laser Center in 1990. In addition to his
primary eye care duties; Dr. Corea serves as both Program Director
for the Optometric Residency Program in Ocular Disease and as Adjunct
Faculty Member for The Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Dr. Corea is a member of the North East Maryland Optometric Society.

Sandra R. Rozar, OD
Dr. Rozar is a refractive care specialist with Parris-Castoro Laser Vision Center.
Her expertise is exclusively in the area of vision correction, as
known as refractive surgery. This includes diagnostic refractive
eye exams, candidacy determination, surgical outcome review, and
post-operative care in Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK), Photorefractive
Keratectomy (PRK), Radial Keratotomy (RK), Astigmatic Keratotomy
(AK), and Clear Lens Exchange.
Dr. Rozar graduated with honors from the University of Maryland
with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She earned a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Optometric Science with honors and her Doctorate from
Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She has been practicing primary
eye care since 1992. In addition, she is a member of the Maryland
Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

Jillian S. Chapman, OD
earned
her Associates of Science Degree from Ferris State University. In
1992, she graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry from Ferris
State College of Optometry (now Michigan College of Optometry),
and was awarded Fisons Pharmaceuticals Award for Clinical Excellence.
Prior to graduation, Dr. Chapman interned at Perry Point Veterans
Administration Medical Center and Wurtsmith Air Force Base. She
has been practicing primary eye care since 1992 and is currently
a refractive care specialist of the Parris/Castoro Eye and Laser
Vision Center.
Her expertise is exclusively in the area of vision correction, also
known as refractive surgery. This includes diagnostic refractive
eye exams, candidacy determination, surgical outcome review, and

Stephen D. Cyford, O.D.
specializes
in comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis and management of ocular
diseases, contact lens fittings, pre- and post-surgical management,
and minor ocular trauma.
A native of Bel Air, he graduated from the University of Maryland
in 1997 with a B.S. Degree in Biology. In 2004, Dr. Cyford graduated
with international honors and received his Doctor of Optometry Degree
from Florida’s Nova Southeastern University.
His internships included pediatric eye care, contact lenses, and
primary eye care with clinical externship focused on diseases of
the eye at the University of Miami’s world-renowned Bascom Palmer
Eye Institute. His training was in the subspecialty fields of: medical
and surgical retina, glaucoma, external disease, oculoplastics,
and neuro-ophthalmology services. He joined Parris-Castoro Eye and
Laser Center in 2004.
Dr. Cyford is active in the American Academy of Optometry, American
Optometric Association, and the Maryland Optometric Association.
