Our Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) was the first accredited outpatient eye facility of its kind in Maryland. Since the ASC opened, we have received the highest rating of accreditation. This signifies our dedication to quality surgical care.

Cataracts

A cataract is a clouding of the naturally clear lens of your eye. Slowly but surely, a cataract can lessen your enjoyment of life. Your eyes grow sensitive to light or glare. Night driving becomes a problem. Even the most familiar things seem dim or blurry. And changing your prescription may no longer help.

Retina

The retina clinic at Parris-Castoro Eye & Laser Center utilizes the latest diagnostic and therapeutic equipment including: digital fluorescein angiography, variable wavelength laser, photodynamic therapy, optical coherence tomography and ultrasonography.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve, and is a very common cause of blindness in older individuals, though it may begin at a young or middle age. The optic nerve is located at the back of the eye and connects the eye to the brain. When the nerve is damaged by glaucoma, there is a gradual loss of side vision, the "visual field."

Pediatric Ophthalmology

A pediatric ophthalmologist is a medical doctor, trained in the specialty of ophthalmology and in the subspecialty of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus (misalignment of the eyes). Many pediatric ophthalmologists restrict their practice to children or adults with related problems and thus are particularly qualified.

Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Every year, one hundred thousand men and women choose blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to improve the way they look. Droopy eyelids can make you look older and can also impair vision. Blepharoplasty corrects these problems and also removes puffiness and bags under the eyes that make you look worn and tired.
